Steps To Post On Instagram
1. Set Up Your Account:
First, you’ll want to go and set up your Instagram account. If they don’t already have an Instagram account, this is something that parents can help with – it just involves a few steps and agreeing to the terms and conditions of using the app.
To set up their own accounts, all users need to do is download the free app from Apple Store > or Google Play >. Once they create their account, jump to step 2!
2. Upload A Photo:
Next, all you have to do is upload a photo! Do this by clicking on the camera icon at the bottom of your screen:
Select the photo you’d like to upload by tapping it with your finger or dragging its thumbnail onto the delete message box. If you select a photo, tap the trash can icon again and then press “Take Photo” (on iPhone) or “Choose Photo” (on Android).
Now, Instagram will take you through a few steps to give you an idea of how the app works.
This is also where parents may come in handy – some of these tools can be difficult for younger kids to understand without help from their older siblings or parents.
Once that’s done, select “Next Step” and start playing around with different features! For example, go ahead and try using one of the many filters available.
You can adjust the opacity level by sliding your finger up or down on each photo filter:
And if you don’t like how it looks the first time around, simply click “X” to remove it. Then, try another photo filter!
3. Add A Caption:
Finally, to add your caption just click on the “Aa” icon at the top of your screen.
From there you can choose from an assortment of fonts and symbols to make your post unique.
You can even use emoji! See what fun things you can come up with for this step 🙂
4. Hashtags & Location Tagging:
If you want people all over the world to find out about your photo (and also see it), then be sure to tag where it was taken using the location feature AND use hashtags!
This is super easy to do – simply go back up to the first step (where you upload a photo) and look for the “Location” feature.
Tick the box next to “On” and then start typing where you are in the world! Most people use their country or city, but some adventurous Instagrammers have even tagged Antarctica before!
Once you’re done with that, scroll down on the same page until you see hashtags. Here, feel free to type in as many of these hashtags as you want! They are words/phrases that are associated with your photo – so they can help get more likes on your photo by allowing it to be seen by other Instagram users who follow those terms/phrases/hashtags.
5. Posting On A Schedule:
If you have a few photos that you want to post, then make sure to use the “Schedule” feature! Click on the square icon at the top right-hand side of your screen (next to your profile) and select “Schedule”:
Then, choose which type of media (i.e., photos or videos) you want to upload now or in future, enter that caption into the box, decide whether you want alerts sent out for this post and that’s it!
You can even choose to have the post go live during a future time slot. Just click “Schedule” once more if you want to make any changes.
Great! You now know how to post photos and videos on your Instagram account. Have fun!
Remember to use hashtags and location tagging if you want more likes on your posts 🙂
