How To Disable Instagram

You might be wondering how to disable Instagram. It’s a valid question, especially if you’re no longer interested in using the app or if you have a privacy concern. In this guide, we’ll show you how to disable Instagram on both your phone and computer.

So whether you’re looking to delete your account altogether or just want to take a break from the app, we’ve got you covered.!

Steps to Disable Instagram on Mobile Devices

Step 1) Open the Instagram app:

If you currently have the Instagram app downloaded on your phone, open it now. If not, go ahead and download it from either Google Play or the App Store.

Step 2) Go to your profile:

Once you’re in the Instagram app, tap on your profile icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen. This will bring up a list of options related to your account.

The one we’re looking for right now is “Edit Profile.” Tap on this option.

Step 3) Unlink Account:

After tapping “Edit Profile,” you should be taken to a new menu with various profile settings and different ways to edit them.

You’ll need to scroll down a bit until you see an option labeled “Linked Accounts.” When you tap on this, you should see a list of platforms you can link to your Instagram account. The last one on the list should be “Facebook.”

This is where you can unlink any Facebook accounts that may be connected to Instagram.

If you do not currently have a Facebook account linked to your Instagram, feel free to skip Steps 4 and 5 and proceed directly to Step 6!

Step 4) Unlink:

If, however, you do already have a Facebook account associated with your Instagram account, tap on it here and select “Unlink” from the following screen.

The proceeding will open up a new window where you need to retype your password for security purposes. Once done correctly, click “Unlink” again and move on to step 5!

Step 5) Confirm:

You should receive a pop-up confirmation asking you to verify that you want to unlink your Facebook account from Instagram. Once done, click “Okay” and move on to step 6!

Step 6) Finish & Disable Account:

At this point, you should be back on the main linked accounts screen where you started steps 4-5.

From here, all you need to do is find the button at the top of the screen that says “Done.” Tapping it will take you out of edit mode and leave your profile with no way to reenter it.

After doing this, feel free to close out of Instagram without ever worrying about logging in again.

Conclusion:

By following the steps listed above, you should now know how to disable Instagram. Once done, you will no longer be able to access any of your previous content on the app and it will be as if you’ve left Instagram for good!
