WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER?

The competition is open to UK residents aged 18 and over. We are looking for people who share an interest and an aptitude for experimenting on a new platform, with the collective aim to create new and exciting interactive experiences.

CAN I ENTER ON BEHALF OF A COMPANY?

Yes, you are welcome to enter on behalf of a company. However, we are unable to give multiple prizes to teams of more than one and therefore the prize will need to be split accordingly.

CAN I ENTER AS PART OF A COLLABORATION?

Yes, we actively encourage collaborations of all kinds, again the prize for winning entrants will have to be split accordingly. We also understand that there will not always be opportunities for collaboration, therefore we happily accept solo submissions.

I LIVE OUTSIDE THE UK, CAN I ENTER?

If you are not a resident of the UK please feel free to submit your experiment to be showcased on the site. However, your entries cannot be eligible for prizes for legal reasons.

HOW DO I ENTER?

To enter, simply register here to create your account. Once you have registered, click the submit project button in the top right corner of the page.

WHAT IS THE DEADLINE?

The deadline for entrants and submissions is 13.02.2012.

HOW SHOULD I DOCUMENT MY IDEA?

Please make sure you document your project. Supporting material can include up to three images and one video pre-uploaded to YouTube.

HOW MANY EXPERIMENTS CAN I SUBMIT?

You are welcome to submit as many experiments as you like.

MY SUBMISSION WAS REJECTED, CAN I RE-SUBMIT IT?

Yes, rejected entries will be advised on how to re-submit.

DO I NEED TO HAVE A NOKIA LUMIA 800 DEVICE TO CREATE AN EXPERIMENT?

No. You can create an experiment using the freely available Windows Phone SDK and run your experiment using the emulator.

DOES MY EXPERIMENT HAVE BE RELEASED UNDER A CREATIVE COMMONS LICENCE?

We believe that through sharing code, you can stand on the shoulders of others in order to push your own capabilites. However, you do not have to open source your code, it is entirely up to you.

WHO WILL BE JUDGING THE COMPETITION?

The competition will be judged by representatives from Nokia and onedotzero.

WHAT WILL THE JUDGING CRITERIA BE?

The best entries will have experimented with the WP7 platform in fun and creative ways to demonstrate the possibilities when you merge art and technology.

WHAT CAN I WIN?

1st prize - £5000

10 shortlisted prizes - £500

WHEN WILL THE WINNERS BE ANNOUNCED?

The winner and shortlisted entries will be announced on alphalabs.cc on 17.02.2012

CAN I USE EXTERNAL HARDWARE?

Yes, as long as the experiment directly involves, or can be deployed to a Nokia Lumia 800.

CAN I PORT WORK FROM ANOTHER PLATFORM?

Yes, you can port work from another platform. However, the project is about experimentation, and we are looking for projects that involve creative exploration. As such, we would be looking for evidence as to how you have been innovative in your use of the WP7 tool-set and the native functionality of the Nokia Lumia 800 device.
